Copyright policy

VelvetVote respects intellectual-property rights. This page explains how a rights holder may identify material and how an affected user may respond.

Last updated: 11 October 2026 · Policy version: 2026-10-11

Before sending a notice

Confirm that you own the work or are authorized to act for the owner, identify the exact VelvetVote location, and consider whether the use is licensed or otherwise legally permitted. A copyright notice is a legal statement; knowingly material misrepresentations may create liability.

Copyright notice requirements

  • Your full legal name, postal address, telephone number, and email address.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list where one notice covers multiple works.
  • The exact VelvetVote URL and enough detail to locate each item claimed to infringe.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury where applicable, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.
  • Your physical or electronic signature.

Send the notice to velvetvote.support@gmail.com. VelvetVote may forward the notice and your contact information to the affected user or a service provider as needed to process the claim.

Our response

We may remove or disable access to sufficiently identified material, request missing information, notify the affected user, preserve relevant records, and take appropriate action against repeat infringers. A notice that does not contain enough information may be delayed or rejected.

Counter-notice requirements

  • Your full legal name, postal address, telephone number, email address, and physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the material removed or disabled and its former VelvetVote location.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled because of mistake or misidentification.
  • For a U.S. DMCA counter-notice, consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate United States Federal District Court and acceptance of service from the original claimant or their agent.

We may send a valid counter-notice to the claimant. Where the applicable process permits, material may be restored after the required waiting period unless we receive notice of a court action.

Repeat infringement

VelvetVote may suspend or terminate users who repeatedly infringe intellectual-property rights in appropriate circumstances. We consider the reliability and outcome of notices, counter-notices, retractions, and court decisions rather than counting every allegation as proven infringement.

Other rights

Copyright is different from privacy, consent, impersonation, and non-consensual intimate-image concerns. For those issues, use the Complaints and safety reporting process.
